Chess Visualization — Support

Last updated 18 August 2026

Need help? Email support@werther.us and we will get back to you. Please include your iPhone model and iOS version — it makes most problems much faster to identify.

Getting started

Chess Visualization trains your ability to see a position in your head before it appears on the board. Read a sequence of moves, picture the position it produces, and give your answer.

The introduction can be replayed at any time from More → Show Introduction, and every exercise has its own help sheet.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. The entire puzzle library is stored on your device, so training works offline — on a plane, on a train, or anywhere without a signal.

The only features that use the network are the optional rating lookups, which fetch your published rating from Chess.com, Lichess, FIDE or US Chess if you choose to enter a username or ID.

Where is my progress stored?

On your device, and — if you are signed in to iCloud — in your own private iCloud database, so your progress follows you to a new iPhone. It is never sent to us. See the Privacy Policy for details.

The daily limit

Chess Visualization is free to use, with 10 puzzles to solve every day. The count resets at local midnight. An optional Premium subscription removes the daily limit.

Subscriptions

Premium is available monthly or annually. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.

Changing your level

Puzzle difficulty follows the experience level you choose in More → Player Information. You can change it at any time, and the change takes effect on your next exercise.

Training with your eyes off the board

The visualization exercise can read every move aloud. It is off by default — turn it on in More → Visualization Training → Move Presentation.

Reporting a problem
