Privacy Policy — Chess Visualization (Android)

Effective date: August 1st, 2026

Chess Visualization (“the app”) is developed by Oliver Werther (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what happens with your data when you use the app. In plain terms: we don't collect anything on our servers, because we don't have any.

Summary

1. Data stored on your device

Puzzle progress, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device. This information does not leave your device except to fetch a rating you asked for (Section 2).

2. Third-party rating lookups

If you enter a public username or ID from any of the following services, the app makes a direct HTTPS request from your device to that service to display your rating:

These requests go from your device to those public APIs. We do not receive, log, or store the request or the response. Each service has its own privacy policy governing that lookup.

3. Subscriptions and payments

If you subscribe to Chess Visualization Pro, the transaction is processed entirely by Google through Google Play Billing. We never receive your name, address, or payment method. We receive from Google only whether an active subscription exists for the current device — that is what unlocks unlimited puzzle access.

Subscription price, duration, and auto-renewal terms are shown before purchase in the Google Play purchase sheet. To manage or cancel, use Google Play Store → Menu → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

4. Players of all ages

Chess is played across every age group, and Chess Visualization is designed to be used by players of any age, including young children learning the game with a coach or parent. Because the app does not collect personal data on any server we operate, and because all optional profile information (name, federation IDs, online usernames) stays on the user's device, no personal information from a young player is ever transmitted to us. Parents and guardians of children under 13 who use a shared or child-owned Google account can manage what the app can access through Android's Digital Wellbeing and Google Family Link controls.

5. Your rights

Because we do not hold your data on any server, there is nothing for us to export or delete on your behalf. To remove all data the app has stored:

6. Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the Effective date above and, when the change is significant, surface a notice inside the app on the next launch.
